Our customers are often exposed to Alfresco for the first time when they use our customer intranet, SynaTree Share. Share is powered by the Alfresco platform, and is an amazingly effective tool for collaboration within a company or workgroup. At SynaTree, we use Alfresco to give our customers access to their own records, and to streamline the process of working with SynaTree by providing a dedicated space for communication and exchange of ideas and data, without resorting to endless email back-and-forth.
We first got started with Alfresco a few years ago, and have been enthralled ever since. The system is complex to set up, but once configured properly it quickly becomes a critical part of the business infrastructure you use every day.
One of the most useful features of Alfresco is the document preview capability, which shows documents of a variety of types right in the browser, without needing to download the document or have the correct software installed on your PC. This is especially helpful when accessing documents from mobile phones or handheld devices.
SynaTree sets up Alfresco environments for our clients using our own specialized deployment mechanism. We offer the choice of a hosted Alfresco solution that we maintain, or a physical installation on a server in your back-office. We install Alfresco Community, which is open-source and free, and we provide support for the system. You also have the option of contracting for support directly from Alfresco at additional cost.
